With juggling work, school, and moving responsibilities, it has been extremely tough to keep up with checking in every day. However, I have found myself to be more mindful about things I am grateful for and spending lots of my extra time outdoors. Now that I have a backyard, I spend at least 20 minutes a day in the back with my dog and I think both him and I are experiencing positive results from that.

This week has been super busy for me. I have had a difficult time keeping up with check in's, but I have been able to spend a lot of time outdoors and practicing gratitude.

Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

I world agree with Moore's statement. Practicing gratitude often forces yourself to look inwards as to how you can take a sense of accountability towards what we are grateful for. As a healthy society, people must be able to determine what they are grateful for, and search for ways to reduce their impacts on said thing. For example, if everyone in town decided to take public transportation instead of driving, our air would be fresher, and bicyclists/pedestrians would be safer.

How does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?

Simply by acknowledging what I am grateful for in turn turns my mind in the direction towards what I care about. Being able to acknowledge important things in my life then makes me wonder what I can do to keep important things/people around me safe. Mindfulness can turn into motivation when done right.
