Jennifer Le 10/23/2024 2:48 PMHello! I hope everyone has been successful with their ecochallenge so far! With the challenge coming to an end soon, I can confidently say that I'm coming out of this feeling more confident and educated. I've learned not only a lot about myself but a lot about how community effort can have a huge impact on our world. Just looking at the numbers of how much water we've saved, how much food waste has been cut down, and everything else. It's truly amazing what everyone has accomplished so far. I can only hope that we all take this as a lesson and continue to work towards a better world even after this challenge is completed. -
Jennifer Le 10/11/2024 2:06 AMToday, I started my morning early and went to Trader Joe's! The best grocery store to ever exist. It was so difficult to resist the baked goodies, but since one of my challenges was to distinguish my wants versus my needs, I decided I could probably live without a sweet treat this week. I bought my groceries for the week and headed home! I ended my day by going to the gym and doing my leg day routine, which felt really nice after a long break from the gym! This ecochallenge has been enjoyable so far. Other than the fact that I'm doing this for educational purposes, I would love to incorporate this into my life even after the challenge is completed! -
Jennifer Le 10/09/2024 12:15 AMHello everyone! I hope you've all been successful in completing your ecochallenge! I've felt defeated these past few days due to my hectic schedule. However, I finally pushed myself to go to the gym after taking a few days off. And truthfully, it felt really good to be back! Going to the gym today helped me get back into my routine after a chaotic week. If anyone else has been feeling a bit unmotivated, I'm here to say that it'll get smoother eventually. Speaking from experience, of course. One of my other goals was to practice wants versus needs. I was craving outside food badly (Chipotle specifically). But I decided to make a meal at home, which saved me $9! And some change in gas! -
Jennifer Le 10/07/2024 11:29 PMTo be completely honest, it's been quite difficult to keep up with my ecochallenge. I've been busy with having to balance school, working part-time, and making sure to put aside time to spend with my friends and family. The only daily actions I've been able to consistently keep up with are my 5-minute showers and using cold water. Now that it's no longer the week of my birthday, I feel more confident that I can be more consistent with my goals (especially making sure to exercise every day).-
Lauren Watkins 10/08/2024 5:33 AMHappy late birthday! And also, don't forget to go easy on yourself - do what you can and trust that when you have space, you can do more when you are ready. :)

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow does/can practicing gratitude keep you centered and motivated to work for a better world?
Jennifer Le 10/07/2024 11:25 PMOften, we are too fixated and focused on our own lives. It becomes easy to forget about the people and things that make us happy when we're busy trying to survive and navigate through the craziest times of our lives. Taking a moment to practice gratitude when there's a lack of it helps to remind others to take a second and realize there are things to be thankful for. Even when it doesn't seem like it. Whether it be an object, animal, friend, sibling, parent, place, etc. -
Jennifer Le 10/04/2024 12:05 PMHi everyone! I've recently been tested on my wants and needs, as it's one of the challenges I chose to participate in. Last night, I went to a late-night coffee shop to do homework. Similar to a few days ago, I've been craving an iced matcha latte. I did need some kind of caffeine to keep me awake. So, I opted for a cheaper alternative (an iced americano) and also got it for here rather than to go to save myself on unnecessary plastic usage. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?
Jennifer Le 10/02/2024 1:27 PMBeing creative allows you to think outside of the box. I wanted a matcha latte yesterday from Black Rock. But I told myself that I'd sip on something at home. And settled for cranberry juice instead. Sure, they aren't similar in any aspect. But the cranberry juice honestly made me forget about the fact that I even wanted a matcha latte in the first place! -
Jennifer Le 10/02/2024 1:25 PMHi everyone! This post is about my first day of the ecochallenge. It was hard to WANT to do this yesterday since it was my birthday. I had to reach my goal of going on a walk every day. So I decided to go to the gym and hit cardio after grabbing dinner with my family. It honestly felt really relaxing, and I ended up running 3 miles! To end the day, I took a shower that was the length of a 3-minute song and used cold water. It took a lot of mental strength not to use hot water. But it felt really nice since I had just gotten home from running 3 miles. It might be more difficult to power through a cold shower on any other occasion. But I'm hoping I'll stay persistent!-
Jeanne Poirier 10/02/2024 7:49 PMBirthday blessings Jennifer - thanks for doing the challenge! You and Lucy Dollar have my kudos on the cold shower thing. I am old, retired and only take a shower every 4-5 days - warm water please!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Jennifer Le 10/02/2024 1:18 PMI can incorporate my personal values, such as spending quality time with my friends, by inviting them to the gym with me. This isn't something that bothers me too much because I already spend time with my friends on other occasions. So I typically prefer to work out alone since it's a way for me to destress at the end of the day. -
Jennifer Le 9/30/2024 5:40 PMHello! This is a pre-ecochallenge message for myself and everyone! I've chosen a total of 5 daily actions and 1 one-time action. One of the daily actions I decided to do was to go on a walk every day. I already go to the gym and try to go at least 2-4 days a week. Going to the gym is already an accomplishment for me. But I'd like to start incorporating outdoor walks when possible. I hope everyone succeeds in their ecochallenge! And most importantly, have fun!
