Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day.
Nature

Water
Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
I will save up to 8 gallons (32 L) of water a day by installing a low-flow shower-head.

Access to affordable, nutritious food is a food justice issue. I will advocate for local and/or organic food options at work, on campus and/or in the spaces I frequent.

Energy
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 6 incandescent lightbulbs with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.

Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:31 PMThis challenge has also made more conscious about the thermostat in my home. Hopefully that will be reflected on my next month's bill :) -
Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:30 PMI didn't realize how many water bottles I had been saving until this Eco challenge! It's crazy how one small thing a day can help out the environment. -
Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:29 PMThis has kept me consistent on my daily walks this month and the doggos sure do appreciate it more also! -
Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:28 PMWe are going to the farmers market this weekend but since this is over today, I thought I would share. There is a really awesome smaller one over near King City if anybody is interested! -
Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:27 PMI finally had my first doctor appointment! Yay! I go back in November and on Monday I have my first actual dentist appointment in about 8 years, so I am very excited for that, I am a huge fan of the dentist. Anybody else? -
Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:26 PMWe have been exploring around a lot lately since we are moving and took a nice little walk around the neighborhood and parks to see some locations. -
Kaylee Renner 10/31/2024 12:26 PMI am now almost 99% paperless with all of my bills :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Kaylee Renner 10/30/2024 1:56 PMWe are moving soon, and we found a local place that would take a lot of items that would otherwise have to be taken to the dump! -
Kaylee Renner 10/30/2024 1:55 PMI have really saved a lot of getting ready time with keeping my showers around 5minutes! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?
Kaylee Renner 10/27/2024 12:16 PMI actually usually always wash my clothes in cold water, also to protect them from shrinking and colors blending but also it does help save on our water bill as well.-
Vanessa Ruiz Garcia 10/29/2024 10:23 PMI just started doing this about a year ago myself. I automatically thought my washer knew what was best for my clothes depending on the setting, but once I learned that cold water is best for making clothes last longer, I started doing just that! This helps with water consumption and the energy used to clean our laundry. With a family of 5, my laundry is daily and never seems to end!
Way to go! :) -
Martin Monto 10/29/2024 12:18 PMThat's a great idea, and I think the warmer water makes very little difference in cleaing.
