How is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?

My office's headquarters building is converting one set of men's and women's restrooms into gender-inclusive restrooms. Creating gender inclusive bathrooms is not just about physical spaces; it’s about recognizing and validating the identities of all individuals.

Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

Cultivate a sense of gratitude for Earth by spending time outside in nature by gardening, taking walks & observing the plants & animals around us. Add these kinds of activities to school curriculum to encourage youngsters to feel a part of nature & not feel apart from nature.

Eating more fruits and vegetables gives me more energy, and even makes me feel happier. That positively impacts people around me :-)

My footprint was 886 gallons per day, which is lower than the US Average, so I feel pretty good about that.

What are some of the barriers to sharing economies? What is your plan for supporting or creating one in your community?

A barrier for sharing economies is some services such as uber/doordash/grubhub contains many other fees that do not come with ordering delivery from a restaurant or getting a taxi. I will continue to support my local library and rent out their tools as well instead of buying my own.

My mother raised me to be a scavenger. When my neighbors put good stuff out on the curb that is up-for-grabs I always look at it and often take stuff. Now, when I take stuff, I bring it to my office's annual FreeCycle events and give it away to others.

I'm in a field office, but we have an informal FreeCycle going in the breakroom at Arctic Parkway.

My housemate & I have found this a useful activity on our walks just in advance of the city’s “heavy trash” pickup day (every other month). We have acquired a reading chair, a small bookshelf (it needed just replacement pegs for the shelf, which were made using an $0.87 dowel from our local Home Depot), a small cabinet, a small coffee table, a child sized folding table I use to germinate seeds, and a set of mini-blinds that I cut into hundreds of small plant tags for the native plants I grow and share.

I just calculated my digital carbon footprint, and it made me think about how much my internet use really impacts the planet, it is so hard to give up because I watch so much online content.

How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?

It helps me get to know the new area I live in. I took a walk in Princton along the water and found snail shells and baby snails! It was so cool I've never seen snails back in south jersey before I moved. It made me feel closer to my new home
